LED enclosure is the most critical aspect in SMD Screen. A well-designed LED encapsulation process can help the LED display better energy efficiency and heat dissipation conditions, increasing the lifespan. SMD and DIP are among the commonly used in LED enclosure. In the present COB packaging is also been used to create LED displays. This article doesn’t introduce and contrast COB manufacturing technology SMD Screen.

DIP(Dual In-line Package) LED adopts potting form. The process of potting involves injecting an epoxy liquid into the mold cavity, and then to insert the bracket for LED that is pressure-welded then place it into an oven that allows the resin epoxy to set, and then release it from its mold and make it. Three colours (Red, Green and Blue) are available in a separate packages.

SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) LEDs are attached to the circuit board’s surface that is suitable for processing SMT as well as reflow soldering. SMD 3IN1 LED refers the SMT lamp that is packaged with three distinct shades of RGB LED chips that are that are packaged within the same gel at the same time.

There are 6 major differences in DIP LED display as well as SMD LED display:

DIP LEDs are used for outdoor use and SMD LED is utilized for both indoor and outdoor. Due to the production method for DIP LED, we are unable to make a tiny pixels for the DIP LED screens. The typical DIP LED display size is P20 as well as P16, P10, and P8. SMD LED display could have smaller in pixel pitch. As of now, SMD LED screen can be as small as 1 mm in pixel pitch.

Brightness:

DIP LED screen has more brightness than SMD screen. Each of the R, G and B lamp in DIP LEDs have a separate circuit. Each lamp is able to attain maximum brightness effortlessly.

Color Performance:

SMD LEDs have better performance in terms of color as compared to DIP LED. It is evident that the distance between RGB is greater in SMD Screen. The SMD LED’s surface is treated using diffuse reflection, leading to the absence of granular effects and excellent uniformity in color. Concerning colors, SMD LED light separation is less difficult than DIP LED, and its quality of the colors is excellent. SMD LED uses the entire surface to produce light, which means that it’s overall colors of an SMD LED is more uniform. The color of SMD LED display is more vibrant in color. SMD LEDs are flat and simpler to regulate.

Viewing:

SMD LED has a larger viewing angles over DIP LED. DIP LED is three colors separate, which means the angle of view is hard to fix accurately. SMD LED has three colors in one package. It’s easy to adjust the angle of view. In general, DIP LED has 100 degree viewing angle while SMD LED has 120160 degrees viewing angle.

Protection:

DIP LEDs have better protection in comparison to SMD LED. Thanks to the production method using DIP LED, it’s extremely easy to create protection with shockproof, waterproof etc. However, SMD LED is doing better than the previous versions in these types of protections.

Maintenance Cost:

DIP LED is less maintenance costs that SMD Screen. Each color of DIP LEDs is separate. It is easy and inexpensive to change just one color LED. However, the entire SMD LED needs to be replaced when it’s damaged.
